About Us

Dr. Natasha A Lee

After graduating from the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2000, Natasha had a vision of building a dental practice in her own neighborhood with a focus on providing high quality, comprehensive, preventive and restorative patient care. She founded Better Living Through Dentistry in 2002 and earned the praise of the San Francisco community by being voted Best Dentist by readers of both the San Francisco Weekly and the San Francisco Bay Guardian.

Besides being passionate about educating her patients about achieving and maintaining oral health, Natasha is also passionate about educating future dentists. She is an assistant professor at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry where she spent over a decade teaching restorative dental techniques and now course directs the practice management and dental jurisprudence curriculum, earning awards for excellence in teaching and for innovation in dental education.

Natasha has served on boards and councils for the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Francisco Dental Society as an advocate and voice for patients and dental health professionals. She is a past president of the California Dental Association and serves on Governor Newsom's Business and Jobs Recovery Task Force.

She is committed to volunteerism locally in California and has traveled abroad with her dental students to provide dental care to underserved people in Peru, Costa Rica, Fiji, and the Philippines. Natasha has been recognized by her peers for her dedication to the dental profession, ethics, and for advancement of oral health, by being inducted into professional honor societies including the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society, The Pierre Fauchard Academy, The International College of Dentists, and The American College of Dentists.

Besides everything dentistry, Natasha loves to spend time traveling, hiking, and scuba diving with her significant other Mike. She also enjoys quiet time for reading, yoga, and pilates.

Dr. Joy Magtanong-Madrid

Dr. Joy received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dreaming about being a dentist since the age of seven, she graduated in 2011 with high honors and was inducted into the top dental honor societies of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Tau Kappa Omega. She was also recipient of the California Dental Association Foundation Scholarship for her volunteer service and community leadership. Among other awards and accolades, Joy is most proud of receiving the Clinical Excellence Award which highlighted her chair-side manner with her patients. Joy is a proud alumni of UC Irvine where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilization in 2004.

After receiving her dental degree, Joy balanced patient care with teaching first year students in restorative techniques and local anesthesia. Almost ten years later, she continues to find joy in seeing the passion and determination of first year dental students. As a member of organized dentistry, Joy loves to volunteer during events such as CDA Cares – a biannual event organized by the California Dental Association to provide free dental services to those in need, and provide dental screenings for and kindergarten classes in San Francisco public schools through the San Francisco Dental Society.

Although she grew up in San Diego, San Francisco has been her home for over twelve years now. Joy and her high-school sweetheart and husband, Fred, enjoy exploring Golden Gate Park, various playgrounds around the city, the SF Zoo and Cal Academy with their three rambunctious kids Toby, Addy, and Amaris.
